Inquiry about declined draft

Hello there,

I made my draft about my own Proof for the Median of the Trapezoid theorem that I'm publishing. I already verified the proof and now I'm simply using Wikipedia to publish said proof. The Median of the Trapezoid theorem is literally not even on Wikipedia, despite how important it is in the field of geometry. I'm not very good with articles, so I'll leave it to someone else, I'm just publishing my proof and nothing more. I referenced anything that I didn't come up with and I linked people who contributed to this proof. As for referencing a source, I don't need to do so since I am Moustafa Elwasif, and I made that proof which has been validated, and therefore I'm trying to publish it. The article is made by me first hand.

So, I'd like to ask if there's something else I haven't mentioned that you find as an error or so, so that I can fix it.

Thank you for understanding and thank you for your contribution and for taking the time to make Wikipedia a reliable website. SteveLosive (talk) 06:55, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

SteveLosive, You are also writing an autobiography at Draft:Moustafa Elwasif, where you mentioned, He is known online by the username SteveLosive. Writing autobiographies or editing pages where you have a COI is strongly discouraged.Saqib (talk I contribs) 11:33, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SteveLosive please read WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought and Original research. Wikipedia is the wrong platform for what you want to do. S0091 (talk) 13:49, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - I need your quick opinion on whether you also believe, as I do, that this is a self-published source before I start removing it, given that it’s been used on countless articles. Just so you know, I’m on a spree removing unreliable sources from our articles one by one!Saqib (talk I contribs) 14:49, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Saqib I am just getting a blank page but Googling them, their Twitter/X profile has a gmail email address which is not promising. S0091 (talk) 14:56, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Try using the Wayback Machine!Saqib (talk I contribs) 14:58, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's a pain in the ass @Saqib lol. So for 2024, I get the domain has expired http://web.archive.org/web/20240604200259/http://boxofficedetail.com/ and for 2023 it's giving me WhataNews http://web.archive.org/web/20230510135230/https://www.whattanews.com/about-us. Going back to 2020, I get a janky copy of the site and I can't get to the About Us page because the link does not work but other links do so I am assuming the page did not exist (not good). They did take user submissions http://web.archive.org/web/20200411154825/http://boxofficedetail.com/write-for-us/ and their email is the gmail one. I also see the copyright is dated 2018 in 2020. All of this indicates it is a poor source and nothing suggests it meets WP:RS.
Next time you ask me about a source, can you give me a couple examples of how it's used? Article and footnote# will do. That will help give me some context. S0091 (talk) 15:28, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your prompt and thorough assessment. Please see this. Also, the founder of this website also appears to own entertainmentpk.com.Saqib (talk I contribs) 15:32, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at Teefa in Trouble...wow and yeah, no. Using those archived links, again the About Us page does not exist, there's nothing about their method for determining the box office estimates, etc. so I agree it's not WP:RS. If it were still an active site I would suggest taking it to RSN to have it deemed WP:GUNREL but not worth it at this point unless someone pushes back with your removals. S0091 (talk) 15:58, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright! I’ll dive right into my grand removal spree then!Saqib (talk I contribs) 17:11, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have fun! And don't forget to come up for air. :) S0091 (talk) 17:14, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, I'll remove it in phases. Last time, it took me quite a few days to remove pakmag.net and footballpakistan.com. Removing references is draining, but it feels rewarding in the end.Saqib (talk I contribs) 17:19, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note on Christina Aguilera

Hi there, thanks for the note you left on Draft:Cultural impact of Christina Aguilera. Just wondering, if it was to pass consensus, how would one go about making the page without going through AfC? Thanks Maxwell King123321 22:23, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Maxwell King123321 easy! You simply move it from Draft to (Article). See HELP:MOVE for instructions. I did not intend for you to have the draft deleted. If you want to restore it, you can request to do so at WP:RFUD. S0091 (talk) 14:13, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's alright, I might work on it a bit more in my sandbox before re-creating the article. Thanks for all your help! Maxwell King123321 22:40, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft page: Roman Galay

Hello S0091,

I'm creating a page about Roman Galay, two-time Finnish national champion in figure skating.

As I can see, you left a pinging label on the bottom of the page Draft:Roman Galay. Is there any information about Wikipedia:AFCH submission or any comment about it?

Thank you so much for your attention.

With great regards, WikiContentFigure (talk) 09:07, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WikiContentFigure I pinged DoubleGrazing because they are Finnish so might be interested in the reviewing the draft. I did not review it myself so have no comment. S0091 (talk) 14:19, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Jack Stott - Rejected

Good afternoon. Can you please let me know what determines notability? This person has significant regional notability in South Carolina and is running for political office. Thanks. Jackstott20 (talk) 18:42, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Jackstott20 read through all the linked information in provided in the previous declines and comments. For a politician, generally they must already hold a state or federal office such as a legislator. Please also see WP:AUTOBIO. S0091 (talk) 18:49, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vladislav Doronin assistance

Hello, S0091. I am the new COI editor for Aman Resorts. In the past, you'd helped with some edits to the company page about the owner Vladislav Doronin. Now there is a pending edit request on Doronin's Talk page that I recently put up and I would appreciate your help with that as well. If you review these changes favorably, let me know and I can modify the content; your time is valuable.

Thank you, Astraea2024 (talk) 07:06, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Astraea2024 I don't generally answer edit requests but I did notice you did not include the edit request template which adds it to a list so editors who do answer request will see it. I have added it for you. I will leave you a message on your talk page about having a COI and making requests. S0091 (talk) 15:45, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your patience and diligence in explaining these various technical details with COI editing. I appreciate it. Astraea2024 (talk) 13:05, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Kathleen Amm - Rejected

Hi @S0091, I appreciate your feedback for Kathleen Amm's WikiPage. I think that I have made the appropriate corrections because I rewrote the whole thing to be based off of third-party resources to not be like the previous version, which was using resources to support the content. I also understand that although I have disclosed my connection to Kathleen Amm, it is still an issue that I am writing this page. This is my first Wiki article and I am still navigating the process. Do you have any tips or corrections based on the updated draft or should I just resubmit and hope for the best?

Thank you so much for your time and knowledge! MagnetWiki (talk) 15:26, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @MagnetWiki based on the current sources, she does not meet the notability criteria. One source is an interview and the other two are a regurgitation of the same press release, both of which are primary sources and not independent, and nothing suggests she meets the notability guidelines for academics (read that). You are welcome to resubmit it to get another opinion though. S0091 (talk) 16:29, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dave Wellstone

Hi @S0091! Thanks for reviewing my article. I would love the opportunity to revise the content, as I spent a considerable time on research, and it's extensive entry. Would you be willing to restore the content so I can move it to my sandbox, so I can continue to partner with editors? Thank you so much. SaraJKK (talk) 16:51, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SaraJKK, it looks like the admin who deleted restored it for you in draft. Keep in mind the article is about Dave so all the content about his father should mostly be removed, outside of maybe a couple sentences or so as most if not all the information in already covered at Paul Wellstone. That is also the case for sources. If the sources do not mention Dave, then they are largely unhelpful and you need reliable secondary sources with in-depth coverage about Dave, not interviews, his comments, etc. Those are the type of sources you need to summarize to establish the article and it need to be written in a neutral manner; no praise, etc. Please also see WP:Words to watch. The reason I nominated for deletion is because in order for it meet Wikipedia's various policies, it would essentially needed to be rewritten from scratch as most of it was not salvageable. S0091 (talk) 17:47, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for the feedback, I appreciate it! SaraJKK (talk) 17:55, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Query about Rahul Narain Kanal

Hello there.

I was matching pages that don't have a Wikidata item to the WIkidata database (trying to match the ones that are there first) and looked at the page history on this: Rahul Narain Kanal. It shows you just denied it, but the OP moved it into mainspace.

Do I just revert the edit and it will move it all back? Or is there something more that needs to be done? OIM20 (talk) 08:11, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @OIM20 Eh, just leave it. I will go through it and remove all the unreliable sources then likely nominate it for deletion. Thanks for asking! S0091 (talk) 14:21, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thank you. OIM20 (talk) 16:53, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hello ! I would like to know what exactly problem is about my article ? Which parts are inappropriate ? Faridgurbanov3 (talk) 09:24, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Faridgurbanov3 actually is biggest problem is almost none of the sources are reliable (student essay, a commercial site offering products and services, Forbes Council Post WP:FORBESCON, and a conference paper). The only reliable source is CISA but it's a primary source (government) so not useful for notability. S0091 (talk) 14:31, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Faridgurbanov3 after digging around, I think it would be more helpful to readers to expand Fileless malware. Based on what I have found, most sources talk about LOTL in the broader context of fileless malware. A couple sources you can use are [1] (this is a self-published source so not helpful for notability but fine to use for content) and [2]. The CISA doc would be fine to use as well. Your draft can be blanked and redirected to that article so anyone searching for Living-Off-the-Land attack will be directed to Fileless malware. S0091 (talk) 17:39, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your great feedback. But my first and fifth sources are thesis and research paper respectively. I would research sources you gave and edit the article
https://essay.utwente.nl/83610/1/RAI_EEMCS_faculty.pdf
https://www.scitepress.org/PublishedPapers/2022/110045/pdf/index.html Faridgurbanov3 (talk) 18:16, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Faridgurbanov3 see WP:SCHOLARSHIP. Neither are useful unless published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal. S0091 (talk) 18:23, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
https://www.scitepress.org/PublishedPapers/2022/110045/pdf/index.html this one is from IoTBDS 2022 - 7th International Conference on Internet of Things, Big Data and Security. But I will change the article by editing reference sections. Thank you for your feedback Faridgurbanov3 (talk) 18:36, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Colin O'Brien (actor) rejection

Hi,

I appreciate your feedback and will certainly incorporate your suggestions in my next edit. However, I wonder if the standard you are applying for notability isn't arbitrary. For context, please consider that Colin was the star of a ten 60-minute-episode series, produced by Jason Katims, and also starring Connie Britton and Taylor Schilling (with whom he spends much of his screen time). He also has a principal role alongside Theo James in The Monkey, a movie from Neon which is coming out in February, and directed by Oz Perkins (director of Longlegs). He has the second most number of lines in that film and shares all his screen time with the star, Theo James. He has also guest starred in two of the biggest shows on television, Grey's Anatomy and S.W.A.T. Additionally, he played a young Timothee Chalamet (one of the biggest stars in the world), and acted alongside Sally Hawkins (a two-time Academy Award nominee and a Golden Globe winner) in Wonka (one of the biggest releases in the past year).

In contrast, consider Calah Lane, whose only significant work as a principal in Wonka. In contrast to Colin, she has no starring roles, just a few television appearances, and no work on the horizon. For added comparison, Colin's total screen time in all his work easily dwarfs the sum of all of hers. Further, she has no critics to cite to regarding the high quality of that work.

I think a consistent standard for notability would easily qualify Colin in this regard. I ask you to reconsider your decision.

Thank you again for your time, I do appreciate getting feedback so quickly.

Sincerely, Don O'Brien Donjobrien (talk) 01:53, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Donjobrien who he shares screen time with makes no difference because notability is not inherited nor, to an extent, does screen time. What matters the most are sources that have written in-depth about him. In this instance, most of the sources are brief mentions and the ones that have more coverage about him are regarding one role, thus my concern about WP:BIO1E. As far other articles, see other stuff exists. I think we can both agree Calah Lane is a poor article of which Wikipedia has many for various reasons. With that said, looking at the history it was nominated for deletion specifically because of WP:BIO1E concerns. During the deletion discussion she was nominated for a Critics Choice Award, which is a major award, and one of the notability criteria is winning a major award so the nominator withdrew. Had that not occurred, the article may well have been deleted. Reviewers are tasked with trying to determine the likelihood of an article being deleted if it where accepted. That's why is said in my decline it was "close" but concerned it may be nominated for deletion. The way to remedy to that is to add some additional sources that has some coverage beyond trivial mentions about him or his other roles. S0091 (talk) 15:16, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I stepped on further editing. I just changed the birthdate Donjobrien (talk) 17:31, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
