The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s (CDA) mission is to strengthen and advance Colorado agriculture and to promote a safe and high-quality food supply. We are seeking information for two divisions from this RFI.

The Animal Health Division meets this mission by managing the movement of animals and reporting of disease in coordination with veterinarians, livestock producers, and pet owners in Colorado.

The Division of Laboratory Services Animal Health Laboratory assists the Animal Health Division in testing for regulated diseases and providing regulated supplies such as traceable livestock identification tags to veterinarians and livestock producers.

Both divisions within the department fulfill their duties through the use of information management systems. Since 2012, the Animal Health Division has utilized USAHERDS for animal health emergency reporting. Since 2015, the Animal Health Laboratory has managed testing and supply data using USALIMS and data is transmitted nightly to USAHERDS. Important identifiers such as premises identification and veterinarian information pull from USAHERDS into USALIMS continuously.

The purpose of this RFI is to obtain information and schedule demonstrations from interested vendors of animal health emergency reporting systems, laboratory information management systems and their ability to message data between the two systems. Ideally a demonstration would include an estimated cost, scope, and timeline necessary for implementation.”
