Monika Klisara (Serbian: Моника Клосара; born 29 October 1995) is a Bosnian-born Canadian professional wrestler. She is currently signed to WWE where she performs in the NXT brand under the ring name Karmen Petrovic.[1]

Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Klisara moved to Canada on the onset of the Bosnian War and competed in karate competitions at a young age. She made her professional wrestling debut in 2022, thus making Klisara the first female Bosnian-born in a Croatian-Serbian background to ever sign with the WWE.

Early life

Klisara was born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. With her parents she moved to Toronto, Canada in the mid-1990s to escape the Bosnian War.[2] She is of Croatian and Serbian descent.[3] She previously attended Ryerson University.[4]

Martial arts career

Klisara is a former champion Karate competitor. At age 17, she was a member of the Canadian National and the Ontario Provincial Karate teams. She won gold medals at the Fonseca Cup competition, the Ontario Provincial competition and the Ontario Summer Olympic Games.[5]

Professional wrestling career

WWE (2022–present)

Klisara made her first WWE appearance on NXT in November 2022 under her real name. She had her debut match on the 28 July, 2023 episode of NXT Level Up as Karmen Petrovic in a losing effort to Ivy Nile.[6] On the 17 October episode of NXT, Petrovic won her first televised singles victory when she competed in the 2023 NXT Women's Breakout Tournament, during which she eliminated Jaida Parker in the first round.[7] During the following week on the 24 October episode of NXT, Petrovic was eliminated in the semi-final round by Lola Vice.[8]

On the July 2, 2024 episode of NXT, Petrovic went one on one with Jazmyn Nyx but lost due to interference from Jacy Jayne. This would set up for a tag team match between Petrovic with fellow Canadian Arianna Grace against Jazmyn Nyx and Jacy Jayne at NXT Heatwave on July 7, where Petrovic and Grace won. After the match, Grace and Petrovic had a disagreement on who contributed to the match victory, to which NXT General Manager Ava scheduled a match between them.[9][10]

Personal life

It was reported on 10 November 2023, Klisara was in a relationship with Brazilian professional basketball player Bruno Caboclo.[11]
