SLAS2015

The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS; www.slas.org) is proud to present SLAS2015 (www.slas2015.org), convening at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, from February 7-11. SLAS2015 delivers a robust, peer-selected scientific program comprised of the following tracks: Assay Development and Screening, Automation and High Throughput Technologies, Drug Target Strategies, Micro/Nano Technologies, Bioanalytical Techniques, Informatics and Biomarker Discovery & Application. The program features 132 podium sessions, 400+ posters and 17 Short Courses.

12/17/2014 - Autoscribe's LIMS e-Bulletin Focuses On Configurability

Autoscribe’s December e-bulletin concentrates on the benefits of being able to configure a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) without the need to write custom code or using a programming script. With details of forthcoming training courses in the UK and US, there are opportunities for people to use the configuration course as part of the preparation for a LIMS project.

The Rare Tumor Center of the Institute for Translational Oncology Research (ITOR) of the Greenville Health System of South Carolina is the nation’s first center dedicated exclusively to the research and treatment of rare cancers. With its innovation zone attracting promising new therapeutic biotech companies, ITOR is poised to make South Carolina a vital destination for integrative approaches to fighting cancer. As with most, if not all health centers, a strong biorepository is a bridge to success in facilitating progress in both treatment and research. 12/16/2014 - The Role Of Freezerworks In CAP Accreditation Success

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation program for biorepositories is relatively new, having begun in 2012. The Genetic Resources Core Facility (GRCF) Biorepository and Cell Center at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine recently became the twelfth biorepository accredited by CAP. According to its Director, Melissa Olson, PhD, the process, which she describes as a “major reorganizational effort”, was well worth it.
