User Requirements

User requirements are perhaps the most important part of any comparison shopping experience, but they are often overlooked. Many users do not take the time to accurately define their requirements. Vendors do not really help the matter for a couple of reasons, the first reason being vendors are not the entity buying the system and whereas they can make suggestions, they cannot really define requirements for someone else. The second reason vendors do not help with this issue, is they really don’t have a vested interested in helping a client define the requirements.

sciCloud.net Enters Public Beta Test Period

Starting January 7, 2013, sciCloud.net will be starting its Open Public Beta testing. Everyone is invited to create a free sciCloud.net account and install and test a growing library of cloud hosted applications for science, technology, healthcare and business.

QIAGEN N.V. announced today that it exceeded its goal for new placements of the QIAsymphony modular laboratory workflow platform in 2012. The growth of QIAsymphony, which offers full workflow solutions from biological sample to result, reached well more than 750 placements at the end of 2012, building on more than 550 at the end of 2011.

Agilent Technologies Inc. today introduced OpenLAB Data Store with Lab Applications, an out-of-the-box solution for smaller laboratories that provides secure central storage of the data produced by Agilent's OpenLAB chromatography data systems. The software is also designed to streamline the management of laboratory operations, assets and regulatory compliance.

Today Omixon – a genomics software company – announces the release of Omixon Target 1.2 which includes a free Genome Browser. With the Genome Browser users can visualize next generation sequencing and mutation data. The Browser is especially designed for targeted genomic regions.
