University of Illinois at Chicago or UIC is a state-funded public research-intensive university located in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Its campus is in the Near West Side community area, adjacent to the Chicago Loop. UIC operates the largest medical school in the United States, which serves as the principal educator for Illinois’ physicians, dentists, pharmacists, physical therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. UIC is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.[1] The university enrolled more than 29,000 students, and it ranked 152 among national universities and 78 in "Top Public Schools" according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[2]
