Hood College is a co-educational liberal arts college located in Frederick, Maryland. The school lies 50 miles west of Baltimore and northwest of Washington, DC. An all-female institution until 1971, the college initially admitted men only as commuters. This continued until 2003, when male students were extended the option of residential status. The university enrolled 2,288 students, ranking 38 among Northern regional universities and 13 in "Best Value Schools" in U.S. News & World Report's 2016 rankings.[1]
