The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is a pediatric research department formed within the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, which is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. The institute was founded in 1972 with the 70,000 square feet addition to the hospital.[1] It primarily supports education efforts of students with fellowships and training grants in cooperation with the hospital, including through the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHi).

The research institute offers a two-year clinical informatics fellowship. "The fellows are prepared for certification in the clinical informatics subspecialty and equipped to be a practicing informatician, leader, and innovator in academic, healthcare, and industry settings."
