Data Visualization can be an important LIMS tool

I have been experimenting with a very cool data visualization tool for the past year.  The tool is called Tableau.  With the large amount of data that is collected by a LIMS, the laboratory can use a self service tool like Tableau to empower their customers to visualize the data provided by the lab.

The following is an interactive example of the types of data analysis and sharing you can do with Tableau.  This example is of the earthquake data from the recent quake in Japan.  The view below allows us to see seismic activity over the past week. The redder dots indicate stronger quakes.  Go ahead and click around on the visualization below and make changes.
